Dear SMART-E BA Families,

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year. Our team is so excited to get to know you and your family this year! The focus of our program is to provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment that offer a wide assortment of activities including art, music, science, innovation, sports, games, and gardening for your child to participate in. We also provide homework support if needed. SMART-E has partnered with a variety of vendors to provide optional classes throughout the year, such as art, sports, language, cooking. These classes are available at an additional fee and families can sign up their children for these through our website.

We have are so excited for a fun year at BA SMART-E. I am back as your Program Coordinator, Sarah Balling as the Assistant Program Coordinator. I am excited to be entering into my sixth year with the program to see so many of these children grow up through BA and start meeting younger siblings. I graduated NDNU with a degree in Education, with a focus on early childhood education, and a minor in Psychology. Over the past 15 years I have spent time working in outdoor adventure camps, in the East Bay and Santa Cruz. I love teaching children how to ride horses and spent many years teaching children, often time working with children with special needs. Many of the kids around BA know me by my nickname, Bubba, a childhood name that stuck! I am so excited to provide any help you need and spend a year with your wonderful children!

Sarah Balling will be our Assistant Coordinator this year, and we are excited to have her join us here at SMART-E BA. Sarah has worked at many of our SMARTE sites, for the past four years, and has a wealth of experience and energy to share with our team! As a senior at SF State, Sarah is studying hospitality & tourism management and has also done a semester in the Disney College program. During the summer Sarah is the Youth Director at the Burlingame Country Club and has wonderful experience as a party/event planner with Kid’s Poss Parties. So if you want to test your Disney knowledge, come find Teacher Sarah!

We are actively recruiting more staff to join our SMART-E BA team!

The SMART-E Program is open Monday-Friday for morning starting at 7:30am each morning and afternoon care is open until 6pm. Your children will also get an opportunity to get to know our staff during lunch, as our staff help support lunch time. You have the option of signing up for as few days a week as you need. Enrichment classes will start the week of September 18th and run through the first week of December – the list of options and sign ups will be posted shortly on our SMART-E website. Each day we will provide fun and engaging games, activities, outside time, and provide a snack. Here at BA SMART-E we have theme each month that we explore through sports, music, art project, cooking, and technology. We are excited to be a part of such a wonderful school which allows us to be so connected and involved.

I look forward to getting to know you, your child(ren) and family this year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at smarteba@scsdk8.org or call us at 650-508-1840. Our business office email is smarteinfo@scsdk8.org and the number is 650-590-5966.
