Dear SMART-E BA Families,

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year. Our team is so excited to get to know you and your family this year! The focus of our program is to provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment that offer a wide assortment of activities including art, music, science, innovation, sports, games, and gardening for your child to participate in. We also provide homework support if needed. SMART-E has partnered with a variety of vendors to provide optional classes throughout the year, such as art, sports, language, cooking. These classes are available at an additional fee and families can sign up their children for these through our website.

We have are so excited for a fun year at BA SMART-E. I am back as your Program Coordinator, Sarah Balling as the Assistant Program Coordinator. I am excited to be entering into my sixth year with the program to see so many of these children grow up through BA and start meeting younger siblings.

We are actively recruiting more staff to join our SMART-E BA team!

The SMART-E Program is open Monday-Friday for morning starting at 7:30am each morning and afternoon care is open until 6pm. Your children will also get an opportunity to get to know our staff during lunch, as our staff help support lunch time. You have the option of signing up for as few days a week as you need. Enrichment classes will start the week of September 18th and run through the first week of December – the list of options and sign ups will be posted shortly on our SMART-E website. Each day we will provide fun and engaging games, activities, outside time, and provide a snack. Here at BA SMART-E we have theme each month that we explore through sports, music, art project, cooking, and technology. We are excited to be a part of such a wonderful school which allows us to be so connected and involved.

I am so excited to be starting my 6th year with SMARTE. I have been working with children for 15 years in camp counselor and program director, as a swim teacher for many years, a tutor, and have worked one on one with special needs students. I have a Bachelors in Liberal Arts with a focus on Early Childhood Education and minor in Psych, from Notre Dame de Namur University. I am big time Harry Potter fan girl. I also love traveling, road trips, coffee, sushi, and spending time with friends and family. When I am not working at SMARTE I am a wellness coach, bring my passion for fitness and nutrition into our after school environment to help our students learn about the importance of taking care of ourselves from an early age.

I have worked with children my entire life; starting at Girl Scout Camps as a Camp counselor, then in college I started working with Legarza company… Taking a semester off I was able to pursue my dream where I went to Orlando Florida for seven months working for the Walt Disney company in their Disney College Program. There I was cast in a Recreation role for Children’s Activities at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts. When I made my return to the Bay Area I went back to work for Legarza where I was approached by the  SMART-E Program and I have been here going on 5 years now. I traveled from many of sites including  White  Oaks, Heather, Arundel, Arroyo and now I am here to serve my BA families. I also had the privilege to work with a company called Kids Posh Parties where I was a Party Hostess for Birthday parties on the weekend.  A little about my interests I love to hike and go camping, I am a SF Giants fan, I love the color pink, Starbucks, and everything Disney / Pixar. I am studying to be an Event Planner with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Tourism and Management.
