JANUARY IS SPACE EXPLORATION MONTH!

All SMART-E programs engage in curriculum and activities that follow a monthly theme. December’s theme was “Holiday Traditions”! Enjoy photos below from some activities!

ANNOUNCEMENTS! 

  • January’s theme is SPACE EXPLORATION. We will be engaging in activities and learning about the solar system, jobs at NASA, experimenting with astronaut food, and much more!
  • GIRLS ON THE RUN – SMART-E Team: All 4th and 5th grade girls are invited to join our Girls on the Run team for Spring 2017! Registration period will end on February 15, 2017. Explore who you are and build your confidence through movement, games, and team building! T-shirt, water bottle, and healthy snacks are provided. Team is limited to 16 girls, so register online now at gotrbayarea.org. Tatiana P. Martino
Program Coordinator

Born and raised in San Carlos, now starting her career back in her home community. Tatiana has a B.S in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University, with an emphasis in motor development and motor learning. After completing her B.S, Tatiana obtained her 12 core units in early childhood education. She has been working with children since she was 15, as a baby sister, coach, swim instructor, nanny, and community advocate. In her free time Tatiana enjoys hiking with her dog Tala or camping.

Assistant Program Coordinator

Nicole has her BA in History from San Francisco State University, and is currently in the graduate program at Notre Dame de Namur University working towards her single subject teaching credential in Social Studies. She has worked for SMART-E for three years, and with youth in other after school programs, youth groups, and tutoring programs all over the Bay Area for the past 10 years. Nicole also LOVES the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors (:

 

 

 

 

Sarah Balling
Program Aide

unnamed-1Sarah Balling has been working with the SMART-E Program for 2 years. She is a student at San Francisco State working towards her Bachelors degree in Hospitality and Tourism. Her favorite thing of all time is anything Disney related, she loves Disney so much she worked for the Walt Disney Company in Florida in 2013. Sarah has two energetic chocolate labs and she enjoys hiking, biking, and going on adventures. She is a San Francisco Giants fan and 49er Fan, and she is very excited to be here at Arroyo as an Program Aide!

Melanie Macaraeg
Program Aide

Melanie is one of the Teacher’s Aides at Arroyo. She is in her last semester at CSU Sacramento, studying Speech Language Pathology. She has a huge family with a ton of cousins and enjoys laughing and hanging out with all of them. Her favorite hobbies include exploring San Francisco, reading, and photography. Melanie absolutely loves watching all the Harry Potter films (proud to be in Ravenclaw). She is super pumped up to begin her first year working at SMART-E and to start this new adventure!
